STEPS Study of Transitions and Education Pathways

The STEPS study is a multiple-cohort large-scale longitudinal program of research which investigates educational and occupational pathways and transitions among Australian youth and young adults.

Australia faces escalating shortages of suitably qualified individuals in particular fields of career. Why young people are not pursuing these fields will be determined in complementary longitudinal studies spanning secondary school to late thirties.

At the individual level, it is important to discover factors which affect educational and occupational choices, which have significant implications for career satisfaction and wellbeing.
